5.0 out of 5 stars Sheer brilliance!

Format: Mass Market Paperback

So, this doesn't happen often...in fact maybe never...but I had to stop reading and hustle over to my computer to start writing this review because I am over-the-moon-crazy about this kick-butt heroine! She's delightfully unexpected and has succeeded in discombobulating Sheriff Hoyt from their very first meet. "He'd just made a fool of himself and could only chalk it up to the sudden appearance of Dorothy carting Toto around on a motorcycle." (p 14) And little Geordie -- 15 pounds of fierce attack poodle! What a hoot! And these are just my first impressions after reading chapter one!

"Chloe hadn't been around many kids during her adult life, but she did train dogs and knew a thing or two." (p 99) Bwahahaha!!! I LOVE Chloe -- she's tough and scrappy and smart-mouthed. Poor Ethan doesn't know what to make of her. He doesn't trust her but he's not willing to leave her to her own devices and possibly get killed either. And his internal observations are hysterical! Love me some dry wit in the middle of angsty chaos!

Be still my heart -- Geordie!!! He's the true hero of this romantic suspense (sorry, Ethan, rest assured you come in at a close second!) This little canine packs as much 'tude as his mama and brought so much fun to the read!

Honestly -- Identity: Classified is sheer brilliance. In my top ten of fave Love Inspired Suspense novels ever. Really.

RT Rating ****

September 2017
Shoaf's Love Inspired debut starts off with a bang and does not let up. It is a well-plotted mystery filled with enough intrigue to keep the reader actively engaged and guessing right up to the surprise reveal. Abby has a fierce faith, and Noah is a devoted protector (as is her dog Bates). If this story is any individuation, Shoaf has a bright future ahead of her.

Abigail Mayfield had a stalker, and it appears he has followed her to Texas. She refuses to spend her life on the run, hiding out. FBI agent-turned-sheriff Noah Galloway saves her from a bullet and vows to keep her safe from the increasing attempts on her life. A mysterious picture causes Abby to admit that her entire life could be a lie. What secrets will she uncover, and will the truth end up setting her free?

* * * * *  Five Stars
Goodness, but the mysteries have mysteries in this multi-layered romantic suspense. Hard to believe that this is Liz Shoaf's debut with Love Inspired! And not only that but she trains dogs so, of course, we have a canine hero in this story. (And we all know how enamored I am over dogs!) So meet Bates, Belgian Malinois extraordinaire. Protection is his specialty but furry hugs and warm, wet kisses run a close second.

And yes, even though I was fangirling all over that noble furry beast, I did happen to notice a certain tenacious ex-FBI/current sheriff with a protective streak of his own. Dedicated and passionate about his work, he is not about to let anything happen to his 'steel magnolia'. Be still my heart -- a man who likes a woman with a feisty streak. Fireworks mingle with gunshots as sparks fly off the pages in this riveting suspense.

Exciting, fun, and provocative Mirror Images is a true page-turner. Author Liz Phelps fills the pages with action and characters that grab the imagination and touch the heart.

Danny Potter and Barkley hum with energy and attitude—super fun to spend time with. They take what the world throws at them and make something positive out of it while not taking any guff from anybody. Yet, their sense of humor that pervades their actions and the good deeds they do are subtly evident, making the reader feel as if a secret is shared with these two characters.

From the mean streets of Chicago to a Fortune 500 company owner, Danny Potter is a force to be reckoned with. Whether would-be delinquents; elite, high-society millionaires; or hired killers; Danny deals with them all with aplomb. Of course, Barkley aids and abets every step of the way.

Austin McKean, retired military, owns the highly success McKean Security that protects the most elite and the most powerful people in the world, He is more than a little put out when he is outfoxed by Danny whom he believes to be a car thief and possibly a drug dealer. However, intrigue and desire creep in as he deals with the street-smart and secretly talented, philanthropic Danny. She is not like any of the women he has known. They make the pages sizzle as they interact. WOW!

Danny and Dee, reunited twins, have a sister connection that adds a new level of love and trust that steals one’s heart away. Their Mother and Barkley’s relationship is delightful fun that shows a new side of each of their personalities.

Suspense and mystery keep the reader a little breathless at times. As people from two vastly different ways of life try to mesh and flush out a killer at the same time, the pace of the story picks up to a fever pitch.

The secondary characters create sub-plots, emotional upheavals, and lots of fun, as events unfold.

Liz Phelp’s character development, her weaving sub-plots into the main plot, her use of humor, and her remarkable imagination, make Mirror Images a compelling love story that lingers in the heart and mind.

ENTERTAINMENT DELUXE!

Family is important and for Danny Potter it is something she has never had in her life. So it comes as a huge surprise that from being with no family she now is the long lost twin to the Townsend family fortune. Not only that but she has a twin sister who is totally opposite from her. Danny is all into badass fighting; black colors and all leather not into prissy clothes and fine etiquette like Dee her twin. Yet somehow Austin McKean finds her attractive and sexy. Danny has always been a fighter in life never showing any kind of vulnerability but when it comes to the Townsend family she is succumbing slowly to their loving warmth and happiness. This is definitely not up her alley but finding out why she was separated from them is at the top of her list next to shacking up with Austin. Here is a guy who is tempting her beyond anything and distracting her in every sexual way he can think of. Can she find out what happened all those years? Can she keep her hands off Austin to find out the real truth?
Austin McKean is a man who is chasing after a woman that does not want to be found. A woman who somehow has gotten under his skin like no other woman has done. Right off the bat Austin knows that Danny Potter is not like the other Townsend family. She definitely is the long lost twin but he doubts himself for no way can this hell bent badass biker chic be the twin that was kidnapped years ago. She denies that she needs a family but something about her reeks of wanting to be loved. Danny denies that she wants a family but Austin knows she desperately wants to fit in with them yet is afraid. Can Austin be her knight or will he fail her like everybody has in her life? Can he find out who separated her from the Townsends before they kill her?
Oh my, oh my Liz Phelps rocked with this heroine, Danny Potter. She not only kicks butt, she is smart and clever yet vulnerable in a way that will make you root for Austin to give her love. These two together are like oil and water yet there is chemistry between them that is awesome. Each step they fight, argue and suspect one another but one kiss between them is like wow. The suspense in this story was definitely great addition. This one is definitely a top 5 and I can’t wait for more from Liz Phelps.
